Modern Gas won the small business award and the Lily Pad SANE Center took home the nonprofit award
The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce chose the small business and nonprofit of the year at Wednesday's chamber breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Modern Gas won the small business award and the Lily Pad SANE Center took home the nonprofit award. Modern Gas has been in Albany since 1954. The company has continued to grow and now partners with Honda Yamaha Kawasaki.
The Lily Pad SANE Center for victims of sexual assault started up three years ago with one and a half employees and 1,800 square feet. Now they have eight full-time employees, five contracted employees, and 6,500 square feet to work with.
“We have a strong partnership with the District Attorney’s office. We have partnership with education and law enforcement, and what these numbers really translate into is that children and families are coming forward and getting help,” Lily Pad Executive Director Karen Kemp said.
Girls Inc., Thronateeska Heritage Center, Eagle Cleaners, and Ole Times Country Buffet were the other nominees.
