Miller was put in the hospital Saturday because of a painful rash
(AP) -- A spokeswoman for St. Joseph's Hospital says former U.S. Senator Zell Miller is improving after being hospitalized last weekend for shingles.
Amanda Rosseter said Tuesday that Miller is in stable condition. She said the 77-year-old was put in the hospital Saturday because he'd had the painful rash for a few weeks and was unable to recover fully.
Miller was in the Senate from 2000 to 2005. Before that, he served at Georgia governor from 1991 to 1999.
