Using Skype technology is quickly becoming a fast and cost effectice alternative for setting up live shots from breaking news scenes, or at times and places where arranging for a live shot using a satellite or microwave truck might be too costly.
FOX 31 News began used Skype technology Monday night during coverage of the Dougherty County School Board meeting. FOX 31 went live to reporter Jana Barnello at the meeting for an update. The live shot was successful and FOX 31 entered a new era of live local news coverage in Southwest Georgia.
