People are delaying scheduled maintenance and major repairs.

Auto repair shops are seeing an increase in cars being towed in for repairs, but they are being towed to the car owners' house instead of being fixed.

Automechanic Tom Gieryic says his customers are waiting longer in order to save up for the expense.  The delay in car maintenance poses a potential threat to all others on the road.  "The scariest thing I guess would be a blowout where you lose control of your car and possibly injure others on the road" says Gieryic.

As long as the economy is in a slump - auto repair companies can expect to see the trend continue.
