Forty middle school students on a mission trip from Jacksonville, Florida are helping clean up Albany this week.

The group started with painting at Henderson Gym Monday morning, and trimmed trees along N. Westover Blvd. in the afternoon. The young teens from Beach United Methodist Church in Jacksonville will also pick up liter, paint a playground, and clean up senior citizen’s yards.

“The best part about this trip is helping others. I mean as cliché as that sounds, that is our goal this week,” said trip chaperone Brett Duncan. “We want to leave this area better than we found it, and I get a little emotional because these kids are so awesome. They’re spreading love.”

The group will be in town until Wednesday.
