Jealous East Point cop threatened girlfriend
(AP) -- Authorities say an East Point police detective allegedly choked and handcuffed his police officer girlfriend out of jealousy.
A Fulton County police report says Det. Jesse Lee Burden confronted his live-in girlfriend, also an East Point officer, about another man a day after she tried to break up with him. The report says Burden slapped the woman in the face while saying, "I love you" and tried to smother her with a pillow and waved his service gun at her, saying, "We're gonna die tonight." Burden was arrested Monday and charged with false imprisonment, aggravated assault and battery for holding her at gunpoint for almost 12 hours. He was released on $65,000 bond is on paid administrative leave.
Police say the woman was found at a neighbor's house and has taken several days off.
