Two young children severely burned in an Albany house fire are still fighting for their lives at the Augusta Burn Center.

3-year-old Jeremiah Fenn and 1-year-old Ja’el Fenn are in critical condition after a flash fire at their home on Ken Gardens Road Friday night. Firefighters say a water heater pilot light ignited vapors from a gas can and engulfed the children. Deputy Chief Ron Rowe says this tragedy reminds us to double check how we store flammable items.

“Try not to put them in inhabited areas of your home or where it could possibly start a fire where somebody may be. The good rule of thumb is just to take all your flammables and things of that nature and get them away from any ignition source.”

The children’s mother, Jessica Fenn, was also treated for burns on her hands and legs.
