A horrific traffic accident involving a semi and a pickup--and the driver is lucky to be alive.

A little before 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, 61-year-old Steve Burton was driving his Ford F-150 on Clark Avenue near the GA-300 intersection when he crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler. He was conscious when the ambulance arrived. EMS rushed him to Phoebe Putney for treatment of cuts and bruises. Police say the Burton was wearing his seat belt, but didn't see any signs of the pickup trying to brake since there were no skid marks on the ground.

No word yet on what caused Burton to hit the semi.
