Despite the economy, about 75,000 Georgians will get a raise this Friday.
Right now minimum wage is $6.55, and it will increase 70 cents to $7.25 an hour when the federal minimum wage increases on Friday. However, increased wages means increased costs for businesses. Chick-Fil-A has already announced their prices will go up and many local business owners say they’re going to have to do the same.
“With these economic times what we’re gonna do is, as long as we can, not go up, and keep our prices the same, but in the end it’s inevitable that it will be passed on to the consumer,” Harvest Moon Owner Bo Henry said.
The increase is an 11 percent raise for minimum wage workers.
