Dougherty County is still working hard to get stimulus money for local projects.
Assistant City Manager told Albany Rotarians Thursday afternoon that the city and county have secured 29.6 million dollars in stimulus money and are expecting to get 17.2 million more. Projects include the widening of Gillionville Road, home weatherization, and police force training and resources.
“The whole stimulus program is a moving target. The application dates are still being put out. Some of the programs still do not have program guidelines so this will easily run well into next year,” Smith said.
The city is also trying to get 60 million dollars to build a broadband network in southwest Georgia.
