Flooding in March sets back corn

Tuesday in Moultrie the annual Sunbelt Ag-Expo took place where farmers and agribusiness members met and discussed different variations of methods, seeds, chemicals and new crops.

As the floods in March washed away the streets in Southwest Georgia, crops surprisingly weren’t affect too much, just corn according to Sunbelt Farm Manager Michael Williams.

While the ag-business is currently stable, it seemed fitting to reveal a new crop to the expo, alfalfa.

Big things are expected from alfalfa but even loftier expectations are being placed on the soybean this year says Williams.

“Compared to what commodity prices is on the various crops right soybeans has the best commodity prices at this point,” said Williams.
