Organizers say about 30,000 people watched Albany’s 4th of July fireworks Saturday night
Clean-up crews finished picking up what’s left from this weekend’s Fourth of July celebration in downtown Albany.
Organizers say about 30,000 people watched Albany’s 4th of July fireworks Saturday night. Recreation and Parks Special Events Coordinator Kristin Caso says the whole event cost just under $30,000. Caso says two big reasons for the big turnout are the long weekend and the economy.
“It all started out at the marine base on Thursday and people were looking for something to do. The economy is not doing great. People don’t have extra money to spend, and we gave them a reason to stay in town,” Caso said.
Officials at the Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau say the weekend celebration brought in over $1 million in economic impact for the city.
