10,000 moms, dads, friends, and family poured into Freedom Fest 2009 as the rain poured down
The 4th of July holiday is technically over, but the party continued Sunday night at the 2009 Freedom Fest.
10,000 moms, dads, friends, and family poured into Sherwood Christian Academy's Upper Campus as the rain poured down. Along with the usual fireworks show, this year organizers set up a concert with the MCLB Marine Band, the Mt. Zion Choir, and the Sherwood Christian Academy Chorus. In addition to fun, Organizer Stephen Kendrick says it's a time to reflect on freedom and faith.
“We also celebrate our Judeo-Christian heritage in our nation,” Kendrick said. “A lot of people don’t talk about that anymore, and we talk about the Founding Fathers and their faith.”
Also new this year, the cast of the Sherwood-produced movie “Fireproof” met with fans.
