Carol Hunstein is set to become Georgia's new top

(AP) -- Carol Hunstein is set to become Georgia's new top judge.  The former DeKalb County Superior Court judge will be sworn in Wednesday by former Gov. Zell Miller, who tapped her in 1992 to become the second woman to serve on Georgia's Supreme Court.

Current Gov. Sonny Perdue also plans to attend.  George H. Carley will also be sworn in as the new presiding justice.  Hunstein takes the place of outgoing Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears, whose last day on the court was Tuesday.

Sears, who was widely considered a potential nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, will teach a law course and work part-time at a think tank and a law firm.
