Albany Gang Unit Officers are warning kids about joining gangs.

Capt. Mack Green spoke with over 300 students participating in this year’s National Youth Sports Program at Albany State. Officers educated kids on gang colors and why they should not join. Green says the summer is prime time for gang recruitment and wants parents to be extra vigilant with their kids.

“Do things with them, even if you just sit down and talk to him for a few minutes. That helps. Let them know gangs are the wrong way to go,” Green said.

The Gang Unit has charged 50 people with Gang Participation since January.
