Man, missing wife found dead at Alabama rest stop

(AP) -- Police say they think an Augusta man took his own life at an interstate rest stop in Alabama after killing his estranged wife last weekend and placing her body in the trunk of her car. 

Police say the couple, Scottie and Jessica Murphy, was found at an Interstate 65 rest stop south of Montgomery, Ala.  Jessica Murphy, who worked in the advertising department at The Augusta Chronicle, had been missing since Saturday when she failed to show up for work. 

Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of her death.
