Store owner Rita Strickland is finding it hard advertising her new location to potential customers

An Albany store is trying to stay afloat in this economy, but is finding it difficult because of the City's sign ordinance.

Rita Stricklad, owner of 'Curiosities' on Old Dawson Road, says she cannot advertise her new location because of the sign ordinance. The shop is located in the Summit Northwest retail park. The only sign allowed is a "ground" sign that just advertises the name of the park. Strickland says she has people calling every day wanting to know where she is located, since she moved from Slappey Blvd.

City Manager Al Lott says anyone with complaints can contact their city commissioner, write to Mayor Willie Adams, or to Lott himself. The City will be meeting with some businesses in the coming weeks to hear their concerns.
