The California Supreme Court also agreed to recognize gay marriages that happened legally before Proposition Eight
Southwest Georgians agree with California Supreme Court ruling to uphold Proposition Eight, which bans same-sex marriages.
Many locals say gay marriage goes against what they were brought up to believe. Local attorney, James Finkelstein says he thinks people tend to focus more on what they "feel" rather than civil rights and logic. Finkelstein says it's not equal rights if the right to marry is not available to everyone.
The California Supreme Court also agreed to recognize gay marriages that happened legally before Proposition Eight. Gay rights activists say they will be back next year in hopes of repealing the proposition.
