Should there be a waiting period after buying a gun?
Lee County police found a woman who shot herself to death after buying a gun on Thursday.
Some states require a wait period after you apply, before you can get a gun, but in Georgia, there is no wait time. Thursday morning, Lee County Sheriff's investigators found 48 year old Katherine Hollis in her car after she reportedly bought a gun at a Leesburg pawn shop. Pawn shop owner Jason Sheffield says Hollis was able to get the gun fairly easily. According to police, Sheffield did everything correctly. According to Sheffield, Hollis' background check checked out. Now in Florida, you have to wait three days from the time you purchase the gun, to the time you pick it up, in case the gun is being purchased in a moment of passion. In Georgia, you can go right in, purchase a gun and usually take it home the same day.
Some do think gun laws need to be tightened.
