Albany police hope the city will be chosen to receive a grant that will help fight crime.

The "Weed and Seed" program has been implemented in Albany before.  Police say the $250,000 grant will be put to good use if the Good Life City is chosen.

“And what these monies will do will establish a committee to revitalize, restore, and provide gang intervention in that area,” said APD spokesman Steve Butler.

The targeted area covers one square mile from Clark Avenue to Pierce and Liberty Expressway to Mock Road.
