Health officials have sent out informative letters to parents of the Dougherty County School System
Dougherty County Public Health officials reacted to the first confirmed case of swine flu in LaGrange today.
“Well, we knew as you can see this thing traveling to various states and how rapidly its evolving, we knew it was probably just a matter of time,” said Health Director Dr. Jacqueline Grant.
Grant says the state has asked for more dosages of antiviral medications and has 13 swine flu cases pending verification in their labs. Public Health also sent out informative letters to parents of the Dougherty County School System today.
“Our school nurses are very alert as to the symptoms to look for, for swine flu. They treat children daily in our schools and any case I think would be readily identified by our school staff,” said R.D. Harter, Public Information Director for the Dougherty County School System.
