The Dougherty County Commission discussed obtaining the final parcel of land needed for the expansion of Gillionville Road today.

The parcel is half an acre.  Commissioners offered the land owners $19,000, but they said no.  Commissioners will now obtain the land through eminent domain.  The owners may continue to fight and decide to go to court.

“The eminent domain or the declaration today to pay fair market value will go to a special master and the special master might give a higher amount to the property owner once they produce information to the special master,” said County Administrator Richard Crowdis.

County officials say this is the fourth parcel of land they've obtained through eminent domain.
