An Albany family of 15 is homeless after an early morning fire destroys their house.

The fire torched a home on the 900 block of South Street.  Luckily, everyone made it out safely but the house is a total loss.

“Our investigation points back to the point of origin around the dryer.  At this point we don't know exactly what caused the dryer to ignite the fire whether it was lint build up or some malfunction in the unit itself but the fire did start around the dryer,” said Albany Fire Chief James Carswell.

The American Red Cross is helping the family recover.
