Dr. John Heller said Monday that Cagle is recovering "rather well"
(AP) -- Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is out of surgery to correct a degenerative spine and neck condition.
Dr. John Heller said Monday that Cagle is recovering "rather well" and was in good spirits after the two-hour reconstructive
procedure. The surgery took place Monday morning at Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital. Cagle withdrew from the governor's race on April 15 saying he needed time to recover from the painful back and neck problem.
He'd been considered a front runner to win the GOP nomination for governor next year. Instead, the 43-year-old from Gainesville said he'll seek re-election as lieutenant governor.
