Dawson police were alerted this morning about a juvenile who had reportedly threatened to shoot a student at Terrell Academy.

The alleged threats went so far as naming a time and classroom that would be the target of the shooting.  Dawson police and GBI agents shut down Terrell Academy for over 5 hours to interview students and keep an eye on the school.  Upon further investigation it was learned that the rumor was being passed along by word of mouth and cell phones.

Dawson police say they must check every threat, small or large, and that this one just ended up being blown out of proportion.
