Albany fire officials are investigating a chemical spill.

The spill happened at the Equinox plant in the 1900 block of Oakridge.  Fire officials say a gas fuse exploded around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Crews were able to get the fire out right after it started.  One employee was injured.  Fire Chief James Carswell says the employee was burned well over 40 percent of his body with second and third degree burns.  Investigators believe the chemical acetylene sparked the fire.  Firefighters stayed at the plant overnight to keep an eye on things.

The entire plant was shut down Wednesday night and residents in the area were alerted to possible dangers.
