Jim Vaught: “We took them on a tour, let them see the destructive weather, the damages to people's homes"
Jim Vaught of Emergency Management addressed the Dougherty County Commission on Monday to update them about flooding.
Vaught told commissioners that officials from GEMA and FEMA are in Albany and that they had reported 33 homes with extensive flood damage.
Vaught said, “We took them on a tour, let them see the destructive weather, the damages to people's homes and they, we took them throughout the county and they got an appreciation for the homes that were damaged by the flood and the governor has already included Dougherty County now as part of its individual assistance declaration.”
Dougherty County has surpassed the threshold of $310,000 in damages to be eligible for disaster assistance, which would bring in grant money for flood victims.
