Phoebe Putney CEO Joel Wernick said the hospital was “disappointed” with Palmyra appealing a federal court ruling involving an antitrust lawsuit

At a press conference Friday, Phoebe Putney CEO Joel Wernick said the hospital was “disappointed” with Palmyra’s actions in appealing a recent federal court ruling involving an antitrust lawsuit.

Wernick stated that this action is "simply a distraction for the community," and says Phoebe plans to take legal action to search for reimbursement. Shortly after Wernick made his comments, Palmyra Medical Center officials released a statement of their own, “This is just like Phoebe Putney to blame others for the monopolistic stranglehold they have on this community.”

Albany resident, Georgia Samuels said choice and cost aside Albany healthcare should be an even playing field. Samuels, a former patient at both hospitals said, "That’s just like the big man taking advantage of the small man.”
