For those of you who aren’t sure if you should pick up sandbags to prepare for sever weather, Albany Public Works says the downtown area will most likely have flash floods this week.

Public Works Director Phil Roberson says W. Oglethorpe Blvd., Davis St., Broad Ave., and Lincoln Ave. usually flood before other areas in Albany.  The Whitney Ave., W. Highland Ave. areas are also at risk.  However, Roberson says if you flooded over the weekend, there’s a good chance you will flood again.  “If you didn’t flood Saturday, unless we have a lot more rain than they’re predicting then you should be OK.  If you got a holding pond in your area, usually you know if it’s gonna overflow,” said Roberson.

Albany residents can pick up sandbags under the Jefferson Bridge all day Wednesday.
