Albany Public Works tries to keep up with the increased demand for sandbags

Albany Public Works crews were out in full force today trying to keep up with the growing demand for sandbags.

People were jumping at the chance to get sandbags to protect their homes in preparation for severe storms this week. Authorities were on site checking ID’s to ensure that Albany residents were being served.  However, they did extend a helping hand to Sylvester folks who were hit with heavy rain and flooding this past weekend.

Albany Public Works representatives say they handed out 1,000 sandbags yesterday and surpassed that amount today.
