Several cars got stuck in high water on Oglethorpe Boulevard

Saturday around noon on Oglethorpe Boulevard by the Krystal, water began to cover the road. 20 minutes later it was flooding the road, nearly two feet in some areas and rising.

Krystal customers and employees just watched in shock. 1:00 p.m. arrived and flooding wasn’t stopping; nearly three and a half feet in some parts. Cars still though, tried to make it through to the other side of the street. While customers and employees stayed inside, there was the exception. One gentleman actually went outside, braved the storm to help stalled cars; his name was Milton Peterson.

“I felt if I ever get into a situation like that, I’d want somebody to do the same for me. It really wasn’t a big deal it’s just that I like helping people. The water was deep and it was cold and pushing a car against water it’s like trying to push against a brick wall. It was hard, but determination is something.”
