Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission will focus on expanding and retaining existing industry while we work through the recession
The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission says it’s going to focus on expanding and retaining existing industry in the next few months while we battle through the recession.
Circuit City and Cooper Tire are two businesses southwest Georgia will lose this year, but the EDC is trying to prevent more loss by forming a Business Retention and Expansion program. EDC President Ted Clem says they’re going to visit local businesses and see how they can help them grow. Equinox Chemicals is one of those companies that will invest millions in expansion over the next few years. “Bein’ here in south Georgia, and with the low cost of living and low cost of running a business, makes us really competitive globally,” said Equinox Chemicals President Mark Grimaldi.
While the main focus will be existing industry, the EDC is still trying to recruit new business to the area.
