Initial reviews of this year’s Mardi Gras weekend are in, and organizers say it looks like it’s the biggest ever.
Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Lisa Riddle says they’re not done crunching the numbers just yet, but says they are most likely going to hit their goal of 40,000 people attending weekend events. Mardi Gras organizer Phil Cannon says he thinks the number of people could reach up to 50,000 from what he’s seen and heard over the three-day event. Organizers credit the marathon and bike race for getting people downtown and involved in the festivities.
Riddle told FOX 31 News earlier in the week that Mardi Gras weekend would bring in over $2 million for Albany.
