Dougherty County is one of eight counties in Georgia to become a “Work Ready Community”.

The designation means the county has a skilled work force and the educational opportunities that businesses demand.  Over 1,500 people in the county have passed the “Work Ready” assessment offered at Albany Technical College, and the county’s graduation rate has increased almost 6% in the last 18 months.  Albany Tech President Dr. Anthony Parker says being “work ready” will help Albany attract business because potential employers can quantify how many people have the skills they desire.

Dougherty County will also get $10,000 to continue the program.
