Lee County School District hit by tough economic times
The Assistant Superintendent of the Lee County School District, Dr. Mike Davis spoke to the Albany Rotary Club on Thursday.
Davis gave a progress report on the school district. He says the graduation rate is up 7% over the past three years to 80%. However, Davis says the sour economy has taken a toll on the district. “We stand to lose approximately $2M dollars if things continue the way they are in the state. We work every day to plan to make up for that $2M dollars, increasing class size, which is not popular with us or anyone,” said Davis.
Davis also says the district will not purchase new buses or computers for the next school year.
