Thousands of southwest Georgians wear red to bring attention to heart disease

Thousands of southwest Georgians participated in National Wear Red Day on Friday.

The American Heart Association sponsors the event to draw attention to women with heart disease.  Staff at Palmyra Medical Center showed their support by wearing red.  Diane Lamb says many women are simply oblivious to the seriousness of heart disease - which kills more Americans every year than any other disease.

Many health institutions offered free gifts or incentives for those who wore red.
