Turtles are notoriously slow, but March 7th, they’ll have no choice but to move quickly in Albany.

To help celebrate the Mardi Gras parade downtown, the Flint RiverQuarium is hosting a turtle race. 10,000 turtles will start at the top of the water steps and the fastest to the bottom wins.  You can adopt a turtle for $5 to help support the RiverQuarium and have a chance to win $1M dollars, along with other prizes.

Laura Calhoun, the event chair, is calling on the community's assistance.  “It’s one that everybody can get involved in. To adopt a turtle it costs $5.  You can say, hey, you know what, we need this aquarium, we need to support our community.  I’m going to adopt a turtle for $5,” Calhoun said.
