Many libraries in southwest Georgia are thriving in recession
As many businesses struggle in the recession, Dougherty County libraries are seeing an increase in people using their services.
Library Director Teresa Cole says patronage was increasing through 2008, but began to spike in September. The library saw a 23% increase in patrons from December 2007 to December 2008 . Reference Librarian Rodney McElveen says more and more people are using the library’s free internet access to look for jobs and because some can’t afford it.
To use any library services you must have a library card. You can get one with a valid picture I.D.
