An Albany police officer is jailed, charged with sex crimes with a juvenile in police custody
An Albany police officer has been jailed after allegations he had inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old juvenile in custody, jail officials said.
25-year-old Matthew Brown is charged with sexual assault, sexual battery, and violation of oath of office. He is accused of Sexually assaulting a 15-year-old in custody. Police are not saying when or where the incident happened, but an internal investigation began pn January 10. Interim Police Chief Wilma Griffin suspended Brown with pay on January 23. He was arrested on Wednesday.
Brown is part of APD’s uniform division and has worked for the department since May 2006.
