President Barack Obama's inauguration has special meaning for some Albany residents who lived through the Civil Rights Movement and experienced segregation.

A group of seniors sat around the television Tuesday afternoon at the Century Pine and Evergreen Assisted Living Center to watch President Barack Obama take his oath of office.  81-year-old Mary Alice Shipp says she remembers when she couldn’t ride the bus or go to the same restaurants with her white peers.  She says she never thought she’d live to see the day when an African-American became president.

Shipp says she finally feels like the country has come together.
