Circuit City officials expect to close stores in 60 days
The nation's second largest electronic retailer, Circuit City, began a major liquidation Saturday and will be closing all of its 567 stores in the U.S.
The store has announced it is going bankrupt after failing to find a buyer. Crowds of people swarmed the Albany store on Westover Boulevard Saturday, hoping to take advantage of the sales. However, some were upset after finding out most of the store was marked down only 10%. Manager Matthew Barnes told Fox 31 that regularly priced items are 10% off, cd's and dvd's are 20% off and they are taking 30% furniture items like t.v. stands. Gift cards will be honored through the liquidation process. However, items bought after friday cannot be returned.
Circuit City in Albany employs 67 people. All positions will be kept during the liquidation process.
