Georgia Department of Transportation is focusing on getting “shovel-ready” projects done to stimulate the economy.

State Representative Ed Rynders says the Department of Transportation is not making the Highway 133 expansion project a priority for the coming year.

Rynders says the road expansion from Albany to Valdosta will get done, but not on the time line they projected.  He says it’s because some of the project’s components are not ready.  However, Rynders says they are looking at economic stimulus packages, a Transportation Bill from Washington, and other initiatives to get the project back on GDOT’s to-do list.

Rynders says they might also break the project up into smaller parts to get it back on track.
