Members of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce are encouraging businesses to become "Work Ready".

Jay Smith, Chairman of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce issued a challenge to all chamber board members and local businesses to become "Certified Work Ready".  This state initiative was implemented about a year and a half ago by Governor Sonny Perdue to show that Georgia has a viable and educated work force.  Smith says Albany's private sector needs to step up to the challenge.

There is only one other community in the state that is certified work ready.  The online assessment takes about four hours to complete.
