The Albany Fire Department was called to the 500 block of Gordon Avenue in response to a house fire Friday.

Authorities say there were no smoke detectors in the home and the bed caught fire from a space heater that was positioned too closely.  Chief James Carswell says as the weather gets cooler, we'll see more and more incidents that could have been prevented by simple maintenance.

Carswell says no one was injured in the blaze, but the home sustained a near $30,000 loss.
