Homeless count kickoff in Albany, Dougherty County
Albany city and Dougherty county officials kicked-off the 2009 Homeless Count at Government Center on Wednesday.
On January 25th, volunteers will go into the community surveying homeless people in the area. Program planner Lauren Miller says the goal is to find an accurate number of people who have had housing problems in the past year in order to allocate funding and create programs to help solve the problem.
Colquitt, Decatur, Miller, Terrell, Thomas, Mitchell and Worth counties will also participate.
