ALBANY, GA. --

On the day that the nation celebrated the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., President Barack Obama celebrated the inauguration of his second term as the 44th president of the United States.

Dr. Devell Young, an internal medicine physician in Albany, travelled to Washington, D.C. to be a part of the festivities.

“The great thing about President Obama is that he is very conclusive and his coalition of individuals includes some people from every walk of life, every creed, color, and race in America,” said Dr. Devell Young.

Dr. Young and his family were among thousands to witness the fanfare in person, along with millions watching on TV. As President Barack Obama looks to another four years, the country is anticipating his next moves. Dr. Young says healthcare is one of his concerns.

“I hope that we are able to implement that plan and get started. The first thing is to make sure that we actually work to bring that plan to fruition and make healthcare a reality for everyone in America,” said Dr. Young.

Other issues he would like to see the president tackle includes immigration reform, energy efficiency, and gun control.

While Dr. Young believes high caliber firearms should be limited, others say a security crackdown would work better for the nation.

“I'd like to see more security measures on the gun control as far as the background measures and everything else. Gun shows need to be a little more secure,” said Robert Bessinger, an Albany resident.

Robert Bessinger also says the president should focus more on jobs during his final term in office. Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson agrees.

"My main priority for the state of Georgia is to finish our work on the Savannah Harbor Deepening project so we can expand the port of Savannah,” said U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-GA.

2nd District Congressman Sanford Bishop also released a statement on President Obama's inauguration stating that

“Four years ago, we proved to the world that in the United States any child—black or white, girl or boy, rich or poor—can dream of becoming President of our great nation. Today, we are reminded still that no hope is unfounded. The echoes of President Lincoln’s words at Gettysburg still ring true—our government is still, “of the people, by the people, for the people.” These words we should never forget.

The completion of this project will bring in more jobs to south and mid-Georgia. Senator Isakson is also calling for a cut back on spending.

As the president prepares to lay out his budget, the senator is confident in a bipartisan agreement to benefit Georgia.
