Dawson residents voice their opinion on city manager to city council

DAWSON, GA -- Following the Tuesday meeting where many felt they didn't get answers, plenty of Dawson residents showed up to the city council meeting Thursday night ready to voice their opinion.

On one hand, a group of citizens dissatisfied with the performance of city manager Barney Parnacott say that it is time for a change and want Parnacott's resignation. Several members of this group brought signs and picketed Parnacott before the meeting and collected signatures against Parnacott as well.

However, other residents say that Parnacott has also taken on the role of city inspector and has saved the town money doing so.

Despite their different opinions, both sides say what they really want is what's best for the city and to move forward and grow.

Representatives from both sides were given a chance to voice their opinion during the meeting.

Mayor Chris Wright said that he will take them into consideration, but could not vote on it because it was not on the agenda.
