CALHOUN COUNTY, GA. -- Calhoun County School Board officials have confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation looking into money that’s missing from the Calhoun County Elementary School.
Superintendent Danny Ellis says an internal audit began last Wednesday and spilled over into Thursday.
Once school officials discovered the possibility of fraud concerning money missing from the elementary school’s general fund, the case was turned over to the local sheriff’s department. They then sent the case to the GBI.
Calhoun County School Board Chairman Alvin Williams says there’s a substantial amount of money missing.
Due to the ongoing investigation, officials say they can’t release many more details at this time.
