ALBANY, GA --
Students at Jackson Heights Elementary and Turner Elementary Schools received a brand new pair of sneakers thanks to "Shoes from H.E.A.R.T." on Friday.

The organization stands for Hands Extended Across Reaching Together and is meant to help children in need.

Under Armour partnered with the group to offer a discounted rate for the shoes, whose purchase was funded by Proctor & Gamble, Sam's Club, Mount Zion Baptist Church, various churches in town and individual donations.

H.E.A.R.T. CEO Anne Johnson Milledge says she began the organization in 2009 after she saw a student who used a trash bag to hold together his sneakers. Milledge says every child needs a pair of shoes so this was an easy way to reach all of the kids in need.

200 pairs were given out to children on Friday but another 300 will be distributed to students at Northside Elementary and Magnolia Elementary on Tuesday.
