ALBANY, GA -- Albany Fire Department Chief James Carswell announced at a press conference Friday morning that the National Weather Service is expecting our area to get between five and eleven inches of rain.

Officials say that any time we get that much water, there is a chance of flooding in low lying areas.

"If we get over five or six inches of rain, that starts causing a lot of problems particularly south and east of here (Albany)," said Phil Roberson the Albany Public Works Director.

Areas in East Albany around Moultrie Road, County Line Road, and Radial Avenue tend to flood first so residents in those areas should beware and take precautions.

Employees with Albany Public Works say they have been pumping our retaining ponds and monitoring water levels throughout the area in anticipation of the rain.
